VETERAN'S POLICY HISTORY
"People ask me, Harold, what makes Terri McCormick so special? Why are you supporting her campaign with such enthusiasm?
My simple response is, because Terri McCormick has courage. She has independence. She has the smarts and the ability to get things done against tough odds.
And this ole U.S. Army vet is not alone. Nearly every veteran is supporting Terri; the veterans still surviving from WWII, to my war, Vietnam, to those brave souls returning from Iraq and Afghanistan.
We trusted Terri would help our disabled veterans with keeping their homes. And she delivered. AB 242, the Disabled Veterans Tax Credit bill, creates a property tax credit for those suffering from both their war injuries and now, economic hardship.
Terri McCormick is not a politician. She has challenged her Party's leadership without retreat. She has marched with veterans and now it is our duty to march with her."

Chuck Bender, Larry Bender, Donna Dorn and Jo Ann Bender hosted the Wisconsin chapter of the National Federation of Independent Business to present the Guardian of Small Business Award to Terri McCormick on Monday, April 25, 2005 at Tri City Glass & Door.

She was recognized for her consistent support of small business issues in the legislature and for co-authoring the regulatory reform legislation that Governor Doyle signed into law last year. Legislators are selected for the award by members of the Wisconsin NFIB Leadership Council, which is comprised of small-business owners from throughout the state.
Terri McCormick represents the 56th Assembly District that comprises portions of Appleton, western Outagamie County and western Winnebago County. Terri chose to receive her award at Tri City Glass & Door because of the company’s long-standing membership and support of NFIB.

EDUCATION POLICY HISTORY
As the founder of Wisconsin’s charter school movement, I value public educational opportunities for every child. Charter schools provide more choices for families and empower innovative educators from across our state to find new ways to reach all children, uplifting their hopes and dreams.
Education has been the cornerstone of my life in public service, from First President of the Wisconsin Charter Schools Association, to High School teacher, to State Representative. As a young girl, my father and mother instilled in me the value of education as the foundation for success in life. I believe it is our responsibility as a nation to empower families with the tools they need to ensure their children’s livelihoods.
Freedom and Democracy depend on a well educated population. Our business and economic vitality hinges on a well-educated and highly- skilled workforce. To that end, I strongly support public school choice, charter schools, the Wisconsin Technical Colleges, and a thriving University system. |
